EVIDENCE: WALK TO THE POST OFFICE

Harborside Academy seniors and EL Education students participate in a nationwide walk to the post office each fall as a symbolic representation of taking the necessary steps for their future. Students first walk the school halls while other students and staff cheer them on. Then, they are cheered on by elementary students and parents as they make their way across the street to the post office, where the principal, district superintendent, teachers, and students share encouraging words before the students drop their letters into the mail. Letters range from college applications to scholarship applications to letters to loved ones. Students also are handed letters of encouragement from their loved ones.
