SUSTAINING CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Harborside Academy has developed a complex leadership structure in order to sustain continuous improvement. As a public district EL Education charter school, there is no shortage of decision making structures that have an influence on the progress that our school makes. Therefore, it was critical that we identify all of the different decision making structures and how they all fit together to help us achieve Core Practice 35: Promoting Shared Leadership in an efficient manner.
This section starts with Harborside's decision-making matrix that defines each team's power and purpose and then goes on to explain how each of these leadership structures and actions work together to sustain continuous improvement at our school. The section continues with a showcase of the many Harborside staff members who have been honored by both EL Education and Kenosha Unified School District for their dedication and expertise as educators and leaders.

REASONING
Achieving effective growth within three different tiers of achievement, while simultaneously ensuring positive adherence to all EL Core Practice benchmarks, requires more leadership than an instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal can provide. Over the years, Harborside has utilized the above named leadership teams (including 37 total staff members) and processes to provide the kind of complex leadership needed to be identified as one of the first schools to achieve EL Credentialed status, to become an EL mentor school, to host a site seminar and national conference pre-conference day, and to have hosted countless visitors, which has clearly helped grow the EL model throughout Wisconsin and in the Midwest.
Harborside is also proud of the large number of staff who have been promoted to leadership positions after teaching at our school. We believe those promotions reflect positively on the leadership practices that take place within our building. We have a lot of work and challenges that lie ahead of us, but we believe the evidence above exemplifies the type of process that needs to be in place to accomplish our goals.
